Chapter 1 New Souls Nursery in Heaven
There is no time in Heaven. The time just goes on and on without worry, sickness, or sadness. It is a very beautiful place and everyone is happy there! In the New Souls Nursery, everyone is playing and talking. It is always busy there because babies are being born on Earth every day. There are souls to say good-bye to as they depart for their mortal bodies. Then there are new souls that come into the group as God wills them into existence.
When a soul leaves for their body, the other souls are happy and sad. They know that is their destiny as well, when their day comes. They will miss their friends in the New Souls Nursery but they each know they will not remember them when they get to Earth. If they could remember them, it would make them sad and they would really long to go back to Heaven. God does not want them to be distracted from the life and work He has planned for them. That is why He takes their memories away of the nursery in Heaven time. He always knows what is best for each of us. He loves us so very much!
This day there is a brand new soul in heaven’s nursery! Sissy has just come into existence and everyone is making her acquaintance now. She is awed with everything there and the other new souls, that have been there longer, show her around. Her eyes get bigger and bigger the more she sees! She has her own ‘space’ in the nursery. It is not a room, but a wide-open space that is empty right now but will soon be full of the things that she thinks of. New souls do not have a body so there is no reason for furniture there. Instead, their thoughts are full of beautiful praises to God, the songs are ones that they sing into existence, and these play on heaven’s airwaves all the time. It is a joyous place full of love and harmony. When she is first created as a soul, she is a ‘wisp of air’ without color or form.
Sissy not only has much to see, but also much to do! She has such pressing questions as ‘What is my favorite color?’ and ‘What things will I like to do?’ The first thing Sissy thinks of is ‘my favorite color is Pink!’ With that thought, she changes color from clear to pink! That’s right; her favorite color has changed her ‘wisp of air’ into pink. That is the first part of her Heavenly Identity being formed. Next Sissy is thinking that she wants to be a good artist. She wants to like to draw, paint, color, and make craft things. Immediately her ‘space’ in heaven starts to have pictures and paintings, things she will create during her lifetime. She will think, as she does these later, that they come from her imagination. Which they do … but her imagination is formed from the things she sees now! Many of her talents and her personality will start right here in the New Souls Nursery. It is a very important place to be.
What she will look like when she is born will depend on whom she chooses as her parents. Yes, she gets to choose! When the time is right, God will ‘open a window’, so Sissy can watch different men and women. For her, He will open the window to the country of the United States. Then He will select the state of Georgia for her to look at. Sissy is very curious about what God is doing. When the window is open and He lets her come over to look out, she does a quick scan. Then she starts watching all the different people. ‘My goodness!’ Sissy thinks, ‘Look how many there are to choose from!’ I will have to do a lot of work finding just the perfect Mom!’
Sissy spends a lot of her wisp existence looking out her window. The person she chooses for her Mom will determine when she leaves the New Souls Nursery. If she chooses someone who is an adult now, her residence in Heaven will be short. If she chooses someone who is a child, her Heaven dwelling will be longer. That isn’t important to Sissy, though. What is important is that she chooses the ‘right’ Mom who will love her forever and be wonderful to her as she helps her grow up. She looks and looks, never getting discouraged because she knows ‘Mom’ is out there now.
Chapter 2 Sissy Finds Her Mom
Success! Sissy found someone! The girl’s name is Kathryn Jo Anne George and she looks like a lot of fun! The first time Sissy sees her, Kathy is in her babyin’ suit of red and white. Kathy is living in a house on Maddox Road in Leesburg, GA. Sissy watches Kathy playing outside and her brother and sister are out there while Kathy’s mom makes a video recording of all of them. Sissy sees Kathy’s Daddy drive up in a silver car. He gets out and is wearing a blue uniform. There is a patch on the shirt that says ‘Corrections Officer.’ Kathy’s Mom turns off the video camera. She and Kathy’s Daddy go inside with Mommy Kathy and her brother and sister. Sissy is ecstatic! She tells God that she has found her mother! God then says for Sissy to keep watching her Mom as she grows up. He says He will be back later to show her some of the future of her chosen mother. Then He will ask if Kathy is Sissy’s final Mom decision.
God is so good that way! He lets the new souls have a choice after letting them see things that will affect them growing up. Of course, He already knows the path and choices that will be made. This is just a little taste, while safe in Heaven, of what each soul will do once they are born into their mortal bodies. This helps start the ‘faith in God’ that each will need in their life’s journey! No matter what each person’s life holds, God always lets them have a hand in deciding how it will go. In the New Souls Nursery, once everything is shown to them, God allows them to change their minds. They can choose a different Mom and change what they will experience in life by that choice. No one remembers this once they leave Heaven to live on Earth, but God does.
Sissy watches her future Mom grow up. She laughs when her Mom is happy and cries when her Mom is sad. Up to then, Sissy didn’t know anything of sorrow. Heaven doesn’t have sadness. In preparing for her earthly life, God lets Sissy feel a little bit of the sad emotions. He wants her to be able to come to Him for comfort now. That way, when she is sad or hurting on Earth, she will just ‘know’ that it is time to go to God and get into His lap for a hug and a kiss to make it all better! Sissy loves God with all her spiritual heart! She knows He will look out for her, even in the future when He knows she is making a mistake! He will take her wrong choices and bring good out of them if she remembers to stay close to Him during her life. The love God has for Sissy is an Everlasting Love. It will never change and will be always there as a firm foundation for her heart and spirit.
Yes, even when Sissy leaves Heaven’s New Souls Nursery, her spirit (that dwelled there) will remember what God was like. How it felt when God held her hand or pulled her into His lap. The Holy Spirit is the side of God that Sissy knows the best. She has met Jesus, another part of God,
but His sacrifice is not as significant to her now as it will be later. In her earthly life, Sissy will learn of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit because her parents will talk to her about them. They will take her to church to learn even more there. In her spirit, Sissy will feel all three of them showering her with love every day. Even when she isn’t thinking of them at any one moment, they will be thinking of her!
She understands that God is triune – a big word for her in her earthly life – but totally understood in her spiritual Heavenly life! In the nursery, God – the Holy Spirit – spends time with her. In her earthly life, the Holy Spirit will also be in touch with Sissy’s spirit. She will feel comforted when she hears the Holy Spirit speak to her heart. Sissy will not ‘understand’ God as Jesus until she is born and is older. Sissy has met Jesus while she is in Heaven. Jesus, who died for her sins, will be explained to her when she is old enough to understand. At that point, Sissy will be allowed to make a choice. Will she accept the free gift that Jesus paid so she can return to Heaven when her earthly life is done? No one knows that but God and Sissy.
Chapter 3 Sissy Waits To Be Born
It is getting close to the time for Sissy to be born! She is really excited! God is coming to see her to make sure she hasn’t changed her mind about who will be Sissy’s mother. God shows Sissy some of the things that will happen, that are important in her final choice. Here is some of what He showed her:
· Kathy will marry Chris Roan
· Kathy and Chris will be Sissy’s biological parents
· Kathy and Chris will later divorce
· Sissy will live with her Mom
· Sissy will visit with Chris sometimes
· Kathy will be the greatest Mom Sissy could ever have
· Kathy will meet and marry Joey Kuglar
· Joey will love Sissy and cherish her as his daughter
· Kathy and Joey will have Sissy’s brother, a boy named Jacob
After showing Sissy these quick glimpses of what her early life will be, God asks, “Sissy, do you want to change your mind and choose a different Mom now?” Sissy thinks really hard. After a few moments she says, “No, I won’t change my mind. My Mommy is so wonderful; she will help me through everything!”
God tells Sissy He likes her decision. He promises to walk with her every moment of her days! He will carry her when she cannot walk on her own. He will love her with an ‘Everlasting Love’ and lift her spirit when she calls on Him. He reminds her that she will not remember in her mind what has happened in the New Souls Nursery. However, her spirit will remember always! When she is talking to God, her spirit will again feel the love He has for her and the encouragement He gives her to live her life. Sissy listens very closely, knowing it is nearly time to leave. She is both nervous and excited!
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit go over to Sissy’s open window. Each gives her a warm hug and a kiss on her forehead. Sissy looks out and sees that Kathy, her Mom, is in labor. It amazes Sissy that her Mom would be willing to hurt that much to bring her into the world! Already she can feel how much her Mom loves and wants her. Through the 9 months of her mother’s Earth Time pregnancy, Sissy has felt her Mom’s love and heard her voice. Sissy has been aware of her surroundings, but God never totally cut off her time in the New Souls Nursery. She has had the best of both worlds, knowing that very soon she will be in her mother’s arms. It is a happy and sad time for Sissy. The triune Godhead reminds her that they will never leave her. It will not be the same as it is now but it will be just as good! Now, Sissy gives each of them a big smile and floats out of her open window in Heaven!
Chapter 4 Sissy Is Now Savannah
Ouch! I need more room! This being born stuff is hard! For the first time, Sissy experiences pain. Her mortal body shows her quickly she will have different experiences now than she had before. She doesn’t remember that she just floated through her window into the world. Sissy does know that there are people who can’t wait to hold her and love on her. With a final push, her mom brings Sissy into the world. Wow! The light is really bright and some guy catches her and then (how dare he!) holds her up and spanks her! What’s up with that! She hasn’t done anything wrong for her to need to be spanked! “When I am able to talk, I need to remember to tell my Mom that the catching person should not do that! Oh! Is that ‘my voice?’?” Sissy wonders as she hears a loud cry. “Yes, it IS my voice! It doesn’t seem like I can say any words though. Well, I guess I will have to learn to change my cry when I need certain things. My Mommy is smart, though. She will understand what I need just by hearing me!”
Sissy’s mom, Kathy, holds her in her arms and gives her bunches of kisses. Sissy loves being held close to her mommy’s heart. The sound soothes her and Sissy stops crying. “Why is she counting my fingers and toes?” Sissy wonders, “They’re all there!” Then she hears her mommy say “Look how beautiful she is!” then “Look at her perfect little fingers and toes!” “Oh, OK!” Sissy thinks. “Mommy just wanted to look at me and I am glad she thinks I am beautiful and perfect!” She hears her Mommy say her name for the first time. “Hello, my beautiful Savannah Nicole Roan!” Mommy says. “I thought you would never get here!” “I love you, baby!”
Sissy now knows she is Savannah! What a pretty name her Mommy gave her! Now, Mommy asks Daddy Chris if he wants to hold her. Savannah looks at his face, he is a little blurry, but she knows him. Savannah thinks it is funny how Daddy Chris is a little nervous to hold her. “I wonder if all the new dads are scared they will break their new babies!” Savannah thinks. “That is just silly! As long as he doesn’t drop me, I will be fine. If I could talk right now, I would tell Daddy Chris just that!” Mommy hands Savannah over to Daddy Chris’ arms. Daddy Chris looks at Savannah and Savannah hears him say “Wow! She looks like me!” Savannah hasn’t looked in a mirror yet and isn’t sure she wants to look like a boy! Well, it isn’t as if she can change herself now, so she will make the best of it. Her Mommy said she was beautiful, so she must be! Now, Savannah is experiencing Earth Time. “That’s different!” she thinks, “There are days and nights!” Savannah sleeps most of the time at first. Sometimes she gets her days and nights mixed up. “There sure is a lot to learn here!” Mommy is very loving and watchful over Savannah. When she wakes up at the wrong time, Mommy doesn’t get upset with her. Instead, she figures out what is needed and then helps her go back to sleep. “I am happy! I love Mommy so much!” is Savannah’s last thought before she drops back into peaceful dreams.
Chapter 5 The Early Years
The days roll on. Savannah hears Mommy say she is growing like a weed. “How does a weed grow?” wonders Savannah. She is awake more now, learning to crawl, and then learning to walk. Savannah likes this mobility thing! She knows when Mommy says “No, Savannah!” that she had better listen! If she doesn’t, she will do something that isn’t good for her! It took her awhile to understand that, but finally Savannah knows Mommy is keeping her safe when she says that. It might make her mad right then, but later, when she thinks about it, Savannah will know that Mommy was right.
As Savannah grows and learns to talk, life gets even more interesting! She watches and listens hard to see if she can make the same sounds. She knows when she gets it right because Mommy gets so excited and says things like “Yes, Savannah!” “You said a word!” Savannah likes to make Mommy happy so she tries really hard to learn more words. Sometimes Savannah gets frustrated, because she knows ‘what’ she wants to say but doesn’t know the ‘word’ yet. Those are the times that Mommy plays the ‘guess what Savannah means’ game. That takes away Savannah’s impatience and makes it fun! Sometimes Mommy gets it right, sometimes wrong, sometimes fast, sometimes slow: but always Savannah loves the communication with Mommy! Savannah is happy! Mommy and Daddy Chris love her! She has many others in her extended family that love her, too! Life is wonderful!
Then one day, Mommy and Daddy Chris aren’t together anymore. Savannah doesn’t understand. Mommy knows she is too young to explain it to her. So Mommy just tries to help Savannah be happy and comfortable as things change. Now it is just Mommy and Savannah. “I don’t have to share her!” Savannah thinks. She loves all the attention Mommy gives her. She is sad when Mommy leaves her places while she is at work. Mommy comes back every day to get her though, so Savannah adjusts. She knows Mommy won’t leave her forever, so she starts to make friends during the day. Some kids are nice. Some kids are mean. Some kids are cute. Some kids are ‘not cute’.
Savannah’s Mommy notices something different about Savannah now. The more people she is around during the day, the more Savannah’s personality shines through, and her social skills are growing! Of course, Savannah doesn’t know that! She is just making friends; helping the kids that need help, playing with the ones that want to play, and giving a hug or a kiss on the cheek to the ones that get hurt. “Oh, my!” thinks Mommy, “Savannah is growing up so fast! She has such a tender heart toward others!”
One day, Mommy took Savannah to her favorite store, Toys R Us. When they got there, Mommy introduced Savannah to her special friend, Joey. Joey went all around the story with them, trying to buy Savannah tons of toys. Mommy wouldn’t let him, though. Savannah didn’t understand why not! She was pretty, was being good, surely she deserved tons of toys! Joey was a great guy in Savannah’s book after that first meeting. Not because he wanted to buy her things, mostly because he was so nice to her. He paid attention when she talked, just like Mommy did!
After a while, Mommy and Joey decided to get married. They told Savannah and she was really happy! All during the wedding preparations, Savannah’s excitement grew. She loved her new dress and she would get to walk up the aisle during the wedding, and it would be such a fun day! She was so excited the day of the wedding. Joey had pictures taken of him hugging Savannah before the ceremony! Savannah loved him so much and Joey loved Savannah! She tried, but just couldn’t contain all her happiness. This meant, by the time Savannah’s turn came to walk up the aisle, she was so tired she cried the whole way. This was not the way she thought the day would go! She had it all set in her mind and this just wasn’t it! It was passed time for her nap and she was so very tired. Savannah knew it, but just couldn’t stop the tears. Still, she got through it and it was a very fine day anyway! Now she had Daddy Joey! Savannah didn’t think she would mind sharing Mommy with Daddy Joey at all!
Chapter 6 Big Sister Savannah
Mommy and Daddy Joey had a big surprise for Savannah! They told her she was going to be a ‘big sister’ and said they were all going to have a baby! Savannah was tickled pink! How exciting! She could hold her baby and play with it! ‘Do I want a little brother or a little sister?” Savannah asked herself. Well, if she had a little sister, she could pass down her clothes and her toys. That would be nice. Wait, that means Mommy would have two girls! “Even though I am older, Mommy would have to take a lot of time doing her hair and stuff!” “If I had a little brother, he wouldn’t want my old clothes or old toys. That makes me sad.” “Mommy wouldn’t have to take a long time fixing his hair and getting him dolled up, though! That makes me glad!” Savannah decided right then a little brother would be the best thing for the new baby to be! She settled down, a little impatiently, to wait for him. She watched Mommy’s belly get bigger. Got to feel him kicking and punching in there, too! Mommy answered all the questions she asked her. Savannah was determined to know all there was to know about this new baby and what he was doing, for surely God would know she ‘needed’ a little brother and not a little sister!
Finally, the day came when Mommy and Daddy Joey were going to go to the hospital. Savannah was beside herself with joy! Soon she would get to meet her little brother! It seemed like it had taken forever for this day to get here! Nonnie and Pop came to Savannah’s house to share the day with her while Mommy and Daddy Joey went to the hospital. Savannah’s little brother was born that afternoon. Nonnie and Pop drove her to the hospital to meet Jacob. She was so excited and happy! When they got to the hospital, Savannah begged to hold Jacob! Her heart was overflowing with love for her new little brother already! In honor of the big day, Savannah picked out a new shirt at the store that said ‘BIG SISTER’ on it! That said everything that was in her heart for the whole wide world to see!
It was a magical day when Jacob finally came home! Mommy was happy but Savannah thought she got tired too fast. “Well, since Mommy needs to rest, my job as Jacob’s Big Sister, is to do all I can to help Mommy take care of him!” Savannah set out from the first day Jacob came home to be involved in everything that concerned him. She paid attention to what Mommy did, asked questions, ran errands if Mommy needed her to bring her something. Big Sister was such a help and a blessing to Mommy, Jacob, and Daddy Joey!
Savannah has forgotten that she didn’t want to look like a boy when she was born on February 18, 2001. If she did remember it, she would be very happy now. Why? Savannah looks like her Mommy! Her hair is strawberry blonde and her eyes are hazel. She has expanded her favorite color from pink to include blue. What were some of the things she thought of while in Heaven? All the activities she loves doing now: crafts, singing, playing with her doll and her Nintendo DS. She also loves to ride her bike and dance. Her favorite sport is football but she likes to play soccer and baseball, too. Her friends right now are Alyssa, Taylor, and Kathryn. Savannah has an awesome black lab named Daisy. Her favorite subject in school is reading and she loves any song that Taylor Swift does.

When Jacob started to get around and was just learning to talk, what did he call his Big Sister Savannah? Why ‘Sissy’ of course! Savannah’s nickname in her family is her original New Souls Nursery name! God knew it all along! I am sure you will agree that it is wonderful Sissy is just finding this out now: on her 9th Birthday!
